John Hornblow
B.Ed and Dip. Bus. Studies
From 1986 John has assisted organisations and individuals to enhance their performance. Over those two decades he has developed extensive expertise in leadership, team performance, conflict resolution and the process of change. John has overseen major projects, including the design, implementation and roll-out of one of New Zealand's largest training projects. Equally comfortable with small teams, John's strong facilitation skills are frequently called on to move teams through change and conflict to a new stage of performance. Mentoring is a passion for John, and he provides this service to people in any position in an organisation. As an NZQA Moderator John places a strong emphasis on the review and measurement of training delivered, believing that long term solutions rather than short term fixes provide significantly more benefit to individuals and their organisations.
John has worked internationally in countries including Singapore, China, Australia, Fiji and North America.

John Mawdsley

John has worked as a leadership coach since 1996, primarily with large businesses and not-for-profit organisations. Having worked for 3M for 11 years prior to 1996 in human resources management, industrial relations, human resources development, and as a sales and marketing executive, John's extensive firsthand business and management experience is an excellent resource for customers who expect highly practical and relevant consulting and training content. John's particular strengths lie in leadership development and coaching, team-based business planning , and sales training. He is also accredited for use of the Myers Briggs® Type Indicator, and specializes in the use of the instrument to facilitate team development. John's facilitation style is very focused on learner involvement, variety of process and enjoyment.

Helen's background is in engineering and project management. She uses her organisational skills to develop our processes and procedures. Helen develops our documentation and manuals, keeps our website up to date and writes our e-zine. Helen is your contact point for our open courses, and organisizes the 360 degree feedback analysis.

Carol Mansfield

Carol is an Administrative Professional with over 20 years experience in administration, finance, marketing and event planning. Carol is currently a full-time mother raising two young daughters and as a contractor provides Nexus with part-time administration assistance; updating our client database, and being involved in marketing initiatives and promotional events.

Pam Elgar

Pam brings a wealth of experience in a variety of leadership roles within the public and private sectors. Most recent has been a senior management role in the finance sector. Pam’s organisational experience also includes a strong background in the not-for-profit sector particularly with sporting and community-based groups. Pam has designed, developed and led training programmes in a variety of subject areas including performance management, leadership development, equal employment opportunities, change management, sales leadership and customer service.
Pam is particularly passionate about providing learning and development interventions that assist the individual to function at their peak. She is accredited to use the Myers Briggs® Type Indicator and specializes in the use of the instrument to facilitate personal understanding and team development.

Shona Munro -

Shona has been an associate with Nexus Partners since 2004. She has an extensive background in education, from high school through to university level. Her entrepreneurial skills have assisted her to build successful mail order and inbound tourism businesses, giving her a deep understanding of the challenges of business. Most recently she has been employed in a training and development role with NZ Police. This diverse background enables Shona to provide clients with relevant learning opportunities in a range of content areas.
Her passion is leadership and coaching. An interest in reseaching these areas has led her to embark on a PhD through a distance programme at Deakin University in Melbourne. Shona's lively interactive style is an asset to the Nexus Partners team.

Fiona Purchas

For the last 13 years Fiona has been working with individuals and organisations to develop their work life and organisational environments to be more satisfying and productive. Fiona’s combination of skills and experience as a career coach and training consultant, along with her interest in organisational development, provide an integrated approach to organisational, team and personal work problems.
As a leader and trainer in the youth sector, Fiona developed a passion for “people problems”. Helping individuals and groups work through problems and develop skills and strategies to be more effective led her to career consultancy with Career Service rapuara, and into corporate training.
Fiona has delivered training programmes, as well as team and individual interventions in a broad range of areas including: career development and planning, conflict resolution, coping with change, effective communication, assertiveness, time management, team development, leadership, skills for recruitment and selection, negotiation, stress management.

Tony McMurtrie
BSc
Tony has more than 15 years experience working as a performance consultant and leadership facilitator in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to becoming a consultant he held senior positions in multinational companies such as GlaxoSmithKline which included responsibility for start-up business units and sales and marketing.
Tony believes that workshops on their own do not change behaviour. He places strong emphasis on coaching and/or mentoring to underpin leadership training, and in particular uses innovative video observation techniques as well as other learning mechanisms to assist transfer of learning.
Tony also works extensively in the area of leadership development and is an experienced coach/mentor. He has a passion for blended learning solutions.
His community involvement has included work as a school trustee; board member for Laidlaw College and as a caregiver for the Open Homes Foundation.
Tony is accredited for use of the Myers-Briggs® Type Indicator.
